It’s a generally accepted fact that competition is good for the market and keeps prices down for the consumer. Apple and AT&T intentionally ignored that rule by forming their unholy alliance with the iPhone, and it’s been kicking us below the waist ever since. With Google CEO Eric Schmidt sitting on the board at Apple, consumers got a smooth integration of Google’s applications with the iPhone. But since Google has pushed their Android operating system for smartphones, the tension between the two companies became so great that Eric Schmidt has left the Apple board due to chronic conflicts of interest.
